FamilyGuard Legal Terms of Use
Terms of Use

Simple terms for using FamilyGuard before and after launch.

These Terms of Use set out the basic rules for using the FamilyGuard website, waitlist, devices, apps, and premium services. They are written in plain language to make the service easier to understand.

These terms describe the main rules for using FamilyGuard, including accounts, subscriptions, acceptable use, and service limitations.

1. Acceptance of these terms

By accessing the FamilyGuard website, joining the waitlist, creating an account, or using a FamilyGuard device, app, or connected service, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, you should not use the relevant service.

If you are using FamilyGuard for a household, you are responsible for ensuring that you have authority to manage the network, devices, and parental controls you configure.

2. FamilyGuard services

FamilyGuard is intended to offer a combination of website services, local network protection, device management, access-request handling, and optional premium guidance for parental decision-making.

Core service

The core service is intended to cover account access, local network controls, household setup, and request handling.

Premium service

Premium is intended to add extra guidance features, such as community recommendation data, richer site context, and AI-assisted summaries.

FamilyGuard may change, improve, remove, or replace features over time as the product evolves.

3. Accounts and family access

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. You should provide accurate information when creating an account and keep that information reasonably up to date.

FamilyGuard is intended for use by adults who manage a household or network. Children should not create primary FamilyGuard accounts unless a future product feature explicitly allows that.

4. Premium subscriptions and billing

If FamilyGuard offers a paid subscription tier, pricing, billing intervals, free trial terms, and cancellation details will be presented during the checkout flow or inside the account area.

  • Subscriptions may renew automatically unless cancelled before the applicable renewal date.
  • If you cancel, premium access may continue until the end of the current paid period, depending on the plan terms shown at the time of purchase.
  • Payment processing may be handled by third-party processors.
Subscription details such as billing intervals, renewal timing, and cancellation handling should match the information shown during checkout and in your account area.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse FamilyGuard or help others do so. This includes not:

  • using FamilyGuard in a way that violates applicable law;
  • attempting to interfere with, disrupt, or compromise the service or underlying infrastructure;
  • using the service to harass, stalk, or unlawfully monitor another person;
  • reverse engineering or attempting to extract source code from protected services except where applicable law permits it.

FamilyGuard is intended to support parental and household internet management. It is not intended to be used as a covert surveillance tool.

6. Availability, beta features, and service changes

FamilyGuard may include features that are incomplete, experimental, or subject to change without notice. Features may be added, modified, paused, or removed as the product evolves.

We do not guarantee that the service will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.

7. Intellectual property

FamilyGuard and its associated software, website content, branding, design elements, and documentation are owned by FamilyGuard or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

These terms give you a limited, non-exclusive, revocable right to use the service for its intended purpose. They do not transfer ownership of FamilyGuard intellectual property to you.

8. Service disclaimers

FamilyGuard is intended to help households make safer online decisions, but no filtering or parental control system can guarantee complete protection or perfect accuracy.

  • Some content may not be identified or categorised correctly.
  • Community recommendation data may not reflect every family's values or circumstances.
  • AI-assisted summaries are intended as guidance, not professional advice or guaranteed fact.

Parents remain responsible for how they use the service and the decisions they make for their household.

9. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, FamilyGuard is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive losses arising out of or related to your use of the service. FamilyGuard's total liability should be limited to the amount you paid for the relevant paid service in the period immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or a similar commercially reasonable cap if no payment was made.

This clause should be reviewed before launch to ensure it matches the final business structure and applicable consumer law.

10. Suspension and termination

FamilyGuard may suspend or terminate access to the service if you materially breach these terms, misuse the service, create security risks, or fail to pay amounts due for paid services where applicable.

You may stop using FamilyGuard at any time, and where a paid plan exists you may cancel according to the billing terms presented to you.

11. General terms

These terms may be updated from time to time. If material changes are made, the updated version should be published with a revised effective date and, where appropriate, communicated to users.

These terms may also be supplemented by product-specific notices, payment terms, or region-specific consumer rights where applicable.

If FamilyGuard updates these terms in a material way, the updated version should be published with a revised effective date.
